A happy, yet stress-filled time for most to-be-wed couples,
a wedding isn't always easy to plan. To smooth the way right
up your wedding aisle, here are some easy ideas to help you
choose the flowers for the big day.
Choose a theme
You probably have a theme in mind for your wedding. This
should help you narrow down your choice for the flowers. If
you are going in for a traditional theme, roses and lilies
are a popular choice.
Are you color coordinating your wedding? When deciding on
the flowers, remember that naturally colored flowers are
much easier to source and kinder to your pocket.
But if you're looking to be authentic in your theme, you may
find that the right flowers are difficult to find, though
not impossible.
Seasonally speaking
If you really want to make it easy on yourself, you can
always try to choose flowers that will be in season when you
have your wedding day. Warmer months are great times for
brighter flowers, while the cooler months might be more
inviting for hardier flowers-chrysanthemums, for example.
Your florist will be able to tell you which flowers are
available at different times of the year. Seasonal flowers
grown locally will be much cheaper than those flown in from
other places.
Complicating it all
More is not merrier in this case! too many flowers can look
fussy and can cause problems. It might just be best to pick
one main flower and add complementary fillers around them.
The fillers need not be flowers, by the way. You could
always try palm fronds, ferns or other green foliage.
Though there is nothing quite like fresh flowers, but they
do fade away all too quickly. So many people are turning to
silk ones because after all they are forever. And you can
use the petals to create an interesting decoration on the
tables, or present them to your guests as a corsage or
centerpiece.
Flowers are a wonderful way of depicting a chosen theme so
select your flowers carefully and then stand back and admire
your handiwork.
